I really don't think they understand what the poppy is about. It's less political than the national symbols that all teams wear on their shirts.

Their HQ might be in Switzerland but have a look at the Disciplinary Committee and you'll see that it is made up of many nations.

I dislike FIFA as much as the next person, but put the blame where it's due.

I really don't think that we can blame the Swiss. FIFA having their headquarters there isn't their fault. I am sure they thought it was just a sports body wanting to set up there. The Swiss police have made FIFA's life difficult so they can't all be bad.

+1. Let's have a bit of pride and ask them to educate themselves about how political a poppy can be - did they even bother to find out what it commemorates? Maybe not - so lets put it down to ignorance and allow them to see sense at appeal. if not, then do we really want to participate in this sh*t contest anyway? It proves nothing and would we really miss it, given our performance anyway?

Well said basil, Scotlands been doing that for almost 20 years now thought there must be a reason, think were also boycotting UEFA too


FIFA and fitba in general has it head so far up its a**e it forgot about the fans a long long time ago.

The big clubs and money have ruined it.

The big clubs put pressure on fifa to change all the international fixture dates so most games are played on a Fri and Tues nites with few if any sat games, all wrong u'll have a generation of kids that will never see there national team play in the flesh.
Sad really.
An awful lot of boys stopped going to the games when that changed and folk that have been going for decades

I totally agree but I rather suspect that FIFA have reacted out of deep seated ignorance of the symbolism of the poppy, perhaps our ambassador in Switzerland needs to have a discreet word with them?
