After zeroing at 100m I verify my drop tables out to about 250 - 300m (as far as I can on my property without having to shoot over ridges). I often use clay pigeons. Not unusual that a .224 projectile goes through without breaking them though.
Believe me .. Hitting a lead air rifle pellet embedded in solid wood with a chainsaw will make about as much difference as having a fly hit the front bumper of your car when you're doing 70 down the motorway. The chances of even noticing it's happened are almost nothing unless you see a smear of lead on the cut face later. The main reason the forester might be pee'd off is that it can reduce timber value if the woodyard/sawmill spot that a lot of his timber has lead in it.
