First pheasants of the season.

I always try and get the first birds in with flint and steel.
A farmer with chickens is worried about bird flue and all the pheasants on him. Wants them shot. If he does it they will go to waste!
So I took three for now. Nothing fancy, spot and stalk but they will be consumed!IMG_20241004_144604.webp

Who cares she’s your best mate and always with you that’s what counts
Atb mate
She behaved today and I sent her through a hedge hoping a cock bird would come back over. She worked for quite a while and put a bird up but it flew away.
She came back, knowing she did well, for a little praise.

Christ SD , you are looking rather smart today 😀👍🏻
Primark jacket, several years old. Short was given me! Primark jogger trousers things.
The expensive items were the clogs which despite dubbing and 3 hours in the wet allowed my feet to get damp but not dripping.
I wanted to test them anyway. Bloody comfy though.

So I took three for now.

@Smellydog

Nicely done old fruit.

We have our first shoot day next Saturday.

It is not looking good.

The ground is waterlogged, and the cover crop this year is (one field excepting) non-existent.

I fear that our total "Bag" for the day may not be as good as your three excellent Pheasants.:-|

I don’t think it’s been a good season for pheasant, not my birds anyway, between predators and all the rain over the so called summer, I have lost more than I’d like
