First reloading experience 6.5x55 for CG M96

So, as the title states, following my newly acquired Carl Gustaf M96 Swedish Mauser, I'm dipping into the world of reloading.

I have the following inbound:
Hornady SST 6.5mm (.264) 129gr bullet heads
Lapua 6.5x55 cases.

Due to pick up a pound of StaBALL 6.5 with a box of primers.

Should be fun!

Start low and work up and do not use modern loads / pressures in the old girl.
What's the date on the action? Mine is a relatively late 1920, fitted with dioptre sights and shoot like a dream...when I do my bit.

Edit: I use RS50 or Reloader 22 with PPU 156gr (old style ) or 139gr bullets and try to mimic the military ammunition performance. I have set my max allowed pressure in GRT to 51k PSI, rather than 55k PSI, to give alerts on higher pressure loads.

Regards

Mark

It's a 1912 with a Soderin dioptre. Lovely old thing.

What colour dial on your Soderin sights? This will denote how it is sighted in and for what bullets.

See here for more info, but summary:

white = 6.5x55 143 grain " Silver Match " , 800 m/s
yellow = 6.5x55 139 grain M-41 military ammo , 790 m/s
red = 6.5x55 139 grain " Falt torped " , 830 m/s
green = 6.5x55 139 grain spitzer boatail , 850 m/s

Regards

If only I knew!! The dial was 'clean' ie it had no paint on it. I have painted the markers white for now until I know any better!

That link I sent gives the spacing between marks somewhere in the convo. You can possibly work out what colour / bullet it refers to from that.

"These are standard Soderin colors , with approximate distance in milimeters between the hash marks of the #1 and #6 . Measured from the end of the mark at the outside diameter of the disc , straight across .

White = 1.75 m/m

Yellow = 4.5 m/m

Red = 9.5 m/m

Green = 11.5 m/m"

I can't work out how the Green disc #1-#6 distance can be 11.5mm?
