FLIR leaving the consumer thermal market

It appears that FLIR have pulled out of the consumer thermal market.
They will no longer manufacture thermal scopes and only make a very few thermal spotters.
I know this won't be a problem to most people on here, but just a warning about FLIR in general.
Remember, this is the company that bought Armasight and then stopped making the Drone Pro.

In grand scheme of things the consumer “civil” market isn’t worth jot to them .... they probably see it as a hindrance .... close it down and concentrate all resources on military contracts and bigger $$$$

Agreed,
They make their money from the military and law enforcement. Earnings from consumer products will be negligible in comparison.
Clearly a change in higher management has decided that the public are not worth the bother.
I had long ago decided not to buy any FLIR products and their latest action merely confirms the rightness of that decision.

Pulsar are the market leaders by a long, long way.
FLIR were always disadvantaged by the ITAR regulations which limited them to selling slow 9Hz refresh rate thermals anywhere but the USA, whilst everyone else was happily selling 50Hz refresh rate kit all over the world.
Now the Chinese are getting into the game (I Ray and PARD in particular) it's probable that FLIR believe that their already small market share would shrink even further, so decided to get out of the game.
Good riddance as far as I'm concerned

Cheers

Pity, because Armasight had some good gear and it looked as though FLIR was going to start getting more of it into the market. FLIR's own civvie models were OK, too, though the Scout TK was underwhelming... Unlike the Axion Key XM22, which is a budget monocular that actually does a good job. Some years back I enjoyed using a FLIR monocular with a built in IR laser that made it easy for a buddy with a rifle and NV to find the target.

This from the latest British Shooting Show email:
....These state of the art dual channel night vision goggles (NODS) offer exceptional clarity in minimal lighting conditions. They truly have to be seen to be believed and you will be able to see them at the British Shooting Show 2020 on the Scott Country International Stand.

No mention of sights, so it looks like they're done, at least outside the US.
