Flir scout tk any good?

Looking for advice, I'm looking to get a thermal monocular but I cannot justify £2k so looking at the Flir Scout TK and or possibly the leupold? Anyone have real world experience of either or alternative suggestions, I'm not wanting to spot foxes at 2km, more trying to find munties in woodlands that may otherwise go undetected.... also for recovering carcasses which may have fallen in cover, will a £500 unit be up to this and what are the limitations.

I think you are dreaming if you think £500 will get you anywhere near a thermal to spot animals. In woodland. You might spot a man in an open field at 50 yards for that...

So what's the minimum you would need to spend on a thermal for that purpose and which would you recommend for it? That is, for discerning, up to say 2-300m in woodland, or less if that's more realistic, that there is some kind of animal in cover that you might not otherwise see with eyes or binos.

This is what I would want a thermal for, but all the chatter seems to be about long range night shooting.

I have no experience of thermal and am not looking for an argument, just some advice.

Pulsar Quantum lite XQ23V - £1200 is about the cheapest you'll get that would do the job effectively.
All the smart phone add-on thermals and the small Seek and FLIR thermals are basically designed for very short range work such as looking for heat loss from a building

Thanks, that's precisely what I mean, although I would be happy with 100m for woodland use.
