Fox study in Oz.

Here in Victoria @ $10 a scalp. MORE than $6 million has been paid to fox shooters by the Victorian Government since a bounty was introduced in 2011.
Btw the above line was copied/pasted from a 2017 article.
Another quote. More than 243,000 fox scalps and 1,000 wild dog pelts were handed in between October 2011 and October 2013.

Added, they are not pelts they are scalps.

Interesting article thanks firbposting. The Volunteer Fox Control sub-article was interesting too, particularly this section:-

“Parasite that foxes pass to cattle

Just by being around cattle, foxes can pass on a parasite called Neospora canium which can lead to pregnant cows spontaneously aborting.”.
I can see that being a real issue - though presumably not in the UK - or is it?

Yes neospora is in the UK, also carried by domestic dogs.

Bloody hell! Fortunately it seems we shooters are not at risk but our dogs are.

There's another nasty tapeworm carried by dogs and foxes that causes a condition called GID in sheep
A friend of mine suffered quite a few ewe deaths a couple of years ago pm showed it as positive this was on a farm that had never had a case in 30 odd years of sheep grazing
