Furry meat!

What do you do with your skins James?
Do you sell them at all ?

They make excellent floor coverings and also go on the the backs of chairs and sofas. I probably have enough now for one at the end of each bed plus the reception rooms have enough I'm reliably informed by my wife.

Only shoot about 20 deer per year give or take a few so it's not commercially viable for me to try and sell them.

That said now the house has enough and bar a few Christmas presents this year I will think about giving them to a friend of mine who exhibits at County shows and horse trials. That could work well.

I never done a deer, but lots and lots of sheep and goats.

Much less problem with hair getting on meat if the animal is skinned before evisceration.
Appreciate this isn't going to be an option for most deer, but if you're close to your larder and you're just doing it for home consumption, I would take it home with guts in, then skin it, gut it, hang it.

I do the same with rabbits - skin then paunch. Much cleaner.
