Fx impact m3

So! The time has come and I need to fill my slot for a .25 fac air.

But what to get! I have my eyes on a impact m3.

But what to go for! The 700mm barrel or the 600. I've also seen ones with and without powerblocks what ever they are!

Any suggestions for the barrel length and slug weights?

Used a sub 12 hw100 for years but need this one for a particular application!

The ones with the power block are the latest ones. Not sure if it makes much difference as the mk2’s will get 75ft lbs in .25 anyway, maybe more with a 700mm barrel. The 700mm barrel is more efficient, especially at higher power output.

I was thinking maybe the 700 because of longer shots and you've confirmed what I've heard that the 700mm is more efficient.

Be looking to shoot out to around 100 yards with it

Maybe have a look at new FX Panthera if it's already available in UK? Price point and features somewhat similar to Impact, but the design is different and might be easier to shoot e.g. from sticks?

I have a mk2 .22 impact with 700mm stx barrel. It will cut string at 100 yards with 21, 23 and 25 grain h&n slugs, also 25 grain jsb jumbo monsters. My pals were amazed at its accuracy.

I've seen a mk2 at a local shop for a good price. Is there any major differences between the m2 and m3 do you know?

Google says 2 regulators and that's about it?!

Slightly more user friendly hammer tension and valve opening adjusters on th mk3. Slightly larger plenum chamber on the mk3 as well. This, along with the power block may give a slightly higher power potential in the bigger calibres? Depends what you need really, and what saving you can make on a mk2? A mk2 will probably do everything you need from an fac air rifle, mk3 adds a little bit more refinement/advancement.

Ease of power adjustment and read off the dials to what what the tune is, so others can copy the results, or you could copy other peoples tune spec. That is major benefits. May be other things as well.

Right, went down the m3 route and had its first outing with it today.

Exceptional is all I can say! It's everything you could ask for from an air rifle and more. Zeroed in 3 shots and was popping crows out at 50m with pellets.

Have some 34 grain zan slugs on order and I'm going to have a play with the regs. Tuning seems quite simple once you get your head around it!

ZAN slugs are very good for accuracy & expansion , so are the JSB knock out
Pic shows 110 - 115 yards

Looks like they do the business then.

The bloke I got the gun off had it running at 91ftlb with 41 grain slugs. That's just way too much to send sky bound and be safe.

The slugs are the same weight as the pellet and il probs be running it around 55 ftlb.

Yea they are way too much for around the farm yard.

I'm Impressed with the hitting power on it. I shot a feral at about 40 yards and it blow a big hole in it! Be interesting to see what the slugs can do!
