******g incensed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just been looking at that "communications centre" the duke opened, what the f#ck benefit has it had for us?.....?
is that the same centre thats probably closed due to the holidays? you don't think you are being just a touch harsh with your criticism ? if they haven't resonded to your written complaint to them and to Countrywise by the start of the New year then I will agree with you.

It's high time that everybody realised basc is just a bloody gravy train , self serving, they do not have any regard for the grass roots needs.

I came to this realisation this summer. Some of their practices make you sick to the stomach. I really feel strong about their public and shameless demeanor. Coming back to your original post, would you please explain what the issue is? I do not understand.

BASC is a business that lives to sustain its self as a business - it does that by selling membership subscriptions, employing a "sales team" and printing glossy magazines ( pretty much the same as the likes of the RSPCA.

SACS is a membership organisation that exists to serve its members 3, yes 3 employees, all of whom are countrymen to the core.

I second that. SACS is what a shooting organisation should be. No nonsense, and they are working tirelessly for their members!

I'm not quite sure how BASC can be held to account for something aired on TV today which they could have no control over?
SACS didn't prevent it being aired either. What do you suggest anyone could have done to prevent this?
MS:???:

What an insane rant!

What are you going to do about it?

Stop expecting small, niche market insurance company's , that you don't even subscribe to, to fight your battles. Write to the BBC, make a formal complaint.

Shooting is a small sport in the uk and its representation highly fragmented. You drop £20 into one pot or another and expect them to fight all your battles?

Steve.
Are you a member of BASC? If not then why should they even bother to answer you?
Sorry but this is a stupid mindless rant for nothing other than a rants sake. How you can even link the two together is beyond comprehension.
You have just made yourself look stupid.

Or maybe take it up with these idiots: Cruel pair admit shooting swan dead ‘for target practice’ with air gun - Sunderland Echo

Whilst I might disagree with much of what BASC does, I fail to see how they, NGO, SACS, CA or whomever can be "held to account" in this situation. Any search of the Internet will show plenty of results similar to the above. The media will point to cases such as this as an easy way of saying that shooters in general are irresponsible.

It is much like the problem with persecution of BoP, in that if the shooting community can't get its own house in order then it has no-one to blame but itself when stuff starts to hit the fan.

Well, I hope Beth Johnston - their new Communications Manager - is not a countryman to the core ;)

Joking aside (and congratulations BTW to SACS for bringing on board someone to boost their exposure in the media) I really hope SACS as an organisation stays that way. I joined them directly as a result of them answering some questions I posed on this forum.

They are caught in the horns of a dilemna - on the one hand they need to remain small enough to differentiate themselves from the large, faceless, organisations such as BASC, CA, etc, whilst on the other they need to be large enough to make themselves heard as something more than a niche player. It is great to be an organisation where everyone knows you by your first name, but organisations of that size will always struggle in their claim to be representative of, or effective across, the entire UK. They simply don't have the bandwidth.

I also found it interesting to read in their latest magazine (yes, they also now have a glossy magazine) that they are starting to set up partnerships with commercial organisations, expanding their organisation, welcoming new management, etc, etc. Hopefully all good stuff, but time will tell.

Without wishing to distract from the OP too much, I was pleasantly surprised to read the SACS advice on using Social Media when it comes to licensing issues - "if you are going through a licensing or other form of police drama don't even be tempted to put it up on social media or shooting forums". Good advice that bears repetition here.

All those organisations out there but only BASC took the blame, and on Christmas day too! Unbelievable! How dare they take Christmas day off to be with their families. Disgraceful! Next we will hear that they were opening presents instead of working, just to rub it in a bit more! :-D

No hang over, as I am designated driver yesterday and today, up until 1pm, as to looking stupid I really do not care a jot, as it's woken a few up!,I 'm more interested in seeing & feeling some sort of result/s from basc, instead of the usual stuff.
