"They do not include licences to protect crops. "
I shall be applying as of 25 April...per the website...and I'd urge others to do so too. The more that do so the better. I've already emailed them, as per their address, to ask when and where I'll need to apply for a licence for woodpigeons, crows, magpies and rooks. The e-mail is: wildlife@naturalengland.org.uk
If basc can't sort this one out then they really will go down the pan. It's time they realised that a large proportion of their members are just ordinary working folk who enjoy a bit of pigeon shooting and pest control. Not to worry lads basc have already welcomed it .....
These are the ones being revoked, if they don't apply to your shooting, you shouldn't be affected.
- General licence GL04: To kill or take certain species of wild birds to prevent serious damage or disease
- General licence GL05: To kill or take certain species of wild birds to preserve public health or public safety
- General licence GL06: To kill or take certain species of wild birds to conserve wild birds or flora or fauna
So it looks like Packham got his way, this is crazy, decisions made by people who have not got a clue what they talking about. To give you an idea of license waiting time. I put in a deer night license application ( fully above board for a enclosed fruit farm with too much day time publicity and night deer activity - very clear cut case) , with Natural England last year. And although they have been in contact, they still have not done a site visit and also not respond to requests for updates. It has now been referred until July i have finally been told...
So best of luck with any application thrown to them now...with what will be a mass hysteria of thousands of applications at once.
The system will melt down and they wont have the staff and applications are going to take months at the least.

As for shooting deer at night, you are wasting your time my friend, but they have to deal with your enquiry, and I'm sure someone from the DI will pop around to see you and the ground, and then recommend refusal!
Cheers
