Government support for sustainable shooting reaffirmed at BASC meeting

The government’s support for sustainable shooting and the benefits it has for conservation and the rural economy were reaffirmed at a meeting between BASC chief executive Ian Bell, and Environment Secretary Steve Barclay MP.

A range of key issues facing shooting including gamebird release, firearms licensing and deer management were discussed at the meeting, held recently in Westminster.

Just to add to Conor's comments it's essential that all of us in the rural community engage with all the prospective parliamentary candidates in our own constituencies. Don't let the minority voice of the antis be the only one which they hear.

Was just going to sat - or now echo - we all have the responsibility to speak with our representatives and get them out in the field
Mine is the shadow minister for the environment and whilst probably 10 times brighter than me has no idea of one of a cow than the other - or no idea of the difference between a crow a magpie and a pigeon

How do we know a Politian is lying? Watch and see if their lips move. Britain i think have had some astoundingly good Leaders, MPs and Cabinets ( mainly in the past though ) . Today i find it very hard to trust any of them . I vote for the least worse option now .
The biggest issue is they have almost to exclusively come up from being at a posh university into a political aid and onto an MP ( normally transplanted away from the areas they have lead their lives before entering politics) . Few have run or founded companies large or small or served seriously in the Armed forces .

Too easy to be a cynic where this sort of activity is concerned. It is essential to engage with the blob on the blob’s home ground ( oops being cynical ).

All country activities are going to need all the help they can get when the next lot get in. With no money they are going to throw some easy (vegan) meat to the urban left. Tweed clad bunny murderers will be easy enough.

Agreed! Far too many weasel words used that can easily be slipped out of and ‘shooting organizations’ will quietly pivot to support the new rhetoric championing the efforts ‘they made’ to influence the government and supporting shooting through numerous media releases whilst giving supporters money away like sweets ( remember the quietly failed BGA?) and chucking them under the nearest possible bus.

Let’s be clear, neither organization gives a stuff about the people they claim to represent so long as their unaccountable fat cat lives continue peacefully..

Actuallly, when you compare ‘shooting organisations’ to political parties, they are identical.
