Greetings from the Isle of Man

Hi guys,

I found this forum when looking for info on deer stalking in the UK. I am in the Isle of Man, and haven't found any local enthusiasts (yet), maybe I haven't looked hard enough. I have been trying to join the local rifle club, but they are "full" and the waiting list seems to be years long - but I haven't tried *that* hard.

Originally from South Africa, I've been moving back and forth to the Island since 2002, but have now been here permanently for the last six years. When I left SA the last time, I gave my rifles to a collector, these were a .308, a 7mm, an 9.3x62 and a 7.9mm.

I grew up rurally, and shot my first buck (a duiker), when I was around 8 or 9. Once I left education there was a long period where I did not hunt, then got back into it in earnest in my 30's. I have hunted various african antelope, including springbok, impala, kudu, wildebeest, gemsbuck, blesbuck and so on. I am not a trofee hunter, I like to eat what I harvest.

I have anumber of questions around stalking in the UK, and will get going once I'm approved :)

Cheers,
Nico

Welcome from Essex, I don't believe there are any deer on the Isle of man though may be wrong, best bet is to look for a guide on the mainland as close to ilse as possible

Thanks for the welcome.

You are quite correct, there are no deer here at all, exactly why I have joined here here! About the only thing you could possibly shoot here are rabbits.

I'm still reading the other threads...
