So my pal dropped round to zero his new Tikka .22lr , turned up with a ziess 3-12 v4 on it. I commented that it was a bit ott for the rifle. Its what the shop recommended, he said, and anyway he can use it on a .223 when / if his variation come through.

He said he had asked the shop to fit the scope and get the set up as near as. Keep in mind this is the same shop that send him home with a .17hmr when had bought a .22lr. No 17 on his ticket yet they had filled it in 😱.

OK so, send a round down to the target, way low, no matter make an adjustment, second shot way left, bit of head scratching. I suggest we check the torque on the ring and rail. All bolts finger tight at best !!
torqued to correct settings, a few rounds later nice inch groups at 55m.

Its my closest shop and frankly I will now avoid, BTW they also charge nearly £70 for a box of Sako blades.

Not going to out them on here but my profile shows where I live.

Sounds like the FEO needs to go round there and check they can read a cert correctly if they sold someone a .17HMR with no slot on ticket!

"Near as" could mean leave scope loose in rings to allow for user final adjustment of eye relief. Loose bases/rail less acceptable.

Bought a 308 off a chap who said it didn’t shoot… tried it at 600 yards on Century with his scope fitted & was getting 4s, 5s & V bulls so knew it wasn’t that bad 🤔

So, did the deal, he removed his scope & after paperwork & cash sorted it went home with me.

Got home, removed the assorted, incorrect, screws holding the rail to the action & fitted new ones so it was no longer rocking from side to side & surprise surprise, it shot fine!
