As per heading I am extremely hacked off to learn the BBC are to cancel Autumnwatch 2023. The reasons given are a;- cost cutting and b;- viewers prefer the Spring and Winter programs.

I don’t buy it and believe the decision is directly linked to Chris Packham’s decision to take a break from broadcasting.

So of course the SD massive will be clapping their hands. But should they? I say no as the program is surely bigger than any single Presenter.

I therefore intend to write to the BBC and make this point along with a belief that of all “Watch” seasons Autumn is in fact the most visually stimulating and I want it back with a newly appointed Lead Presenter from outside the current support acts. There are plenty out there to choose from and nurture.

How about you too put pen to paper please?

In a statement released this afternoon, the broadcaster said it will instead be investing more money into its sister programmes Springwatch and Winterwatch.

I believe Packham (Shouldn’t he change his name to Packtofu?) is going to concentrate on his art. Wasn’t there a German fella, also a veggie who put his profession as Artist and caused a bit of a ruckus a few years back?

Nowt been worth watching since Jack Hargreaves or David Bellamy went of air. Attenborough was ok back in the day until he turned into a weapons grade throbber and became an apologist for the goblin of doom .

I prefer to focus (no pun intended) on what the camera and sound Operators contribute to the program and let both the politics and anthropomorphic tainted dialogue go in one ear and straight out the other.

The point being if you’re interested in the outdoors and UK wildlife in all its varied forms there is a lot to be enjoyed in these programmes IMHO.

I totally agree with your statement and would love to leave this page and do just that, but i know I won't just like countless others that read your post. Is it not possible or more productive to get one of those groups up together that everyone even outside sd can get involved in?

Its something like autumnwatch BASC could commission - through amazon or discovery - They love the outdoor nature type programmes

I think Gordon Buchanan makes programmes like they ought to, and used to. I quite like his style.

There was also a Kenyan lady a while back who nearly became quite popular.

I just want to watch programmes without political bias, or endless indoctrination. BBC - it doesnt matter how much you try to make me feel guilty/sorry for climate change/poverty/slavery/ men who want their dicks turned inside out... I just dont.

Why would anyone be 'gutted' to see the back of Packham or any of his associated programs other then someone who is completely out of touch with him and his current antics..??

Because, IMHO, the program is bigger than any single Presenter and I’m able to both see and enjoy the good elements of it. With or without CP featuring.

I thought that was clear in my post but perhaps you just latched on to the bits that suit your agenda?

My agenda is that Packham has no place on our TV screens at all. He serves no purpose and is poison to our rural way of life.
You can have Spring Watch, Autumn Watch,Winter Watch and even Bay Watch all day long as long has Packham is out of the picture.
My agenda is seeing Fieldsports Enemy No1 reduced to dust. Maybe you should adopt the same agenda yourself..
