Hanging a deer for grail loch or larder

Using S hooks for a suspended galloched or larder could b expensive. I was in Klondyke garden centre. They had galvanised S hooks at £1.99 for five for hanging baskets. You can't buy one stainless for that and it is no great shakes if you leave one in the tree. Certainly up to the task.

We have a local butcher in the village, and he has boxes of S-hooks in his cutting room - that come from the deliveries of carcases he gets. I asked him if I could buy some off him, but he laughed and gave me a box, of 50 for nothing.... If you have a butcher nearby, just ask, they may give you a handful...

What about these:

come in 2 sizes, 7 cm & 11 cm.

The small ones are what i use for pheasants and parts when hanging.
