Hatsan/semi auto gurus, what is causing this malfunction?

Shotgun started having an issue where it was failing to feed midway through a pigeon session yesterday. After firing (or in the case of the photo pulling the bolt back), most of the time the next cartridge gets caught on the throat of the magazine tube and requires sticking your thumb into the receiver, sliding it back and then forcing it up by pushing the feed ramp. I have just taken it apart completely, cleaned everything and oiled moving parts. Feed ramp does feel more "clicky" than it's normal smooth operation but not sure if this is my mind making stuff up or not.

This one got caught even earlier in the magazine tube. Mag spring losing tension or mag spring retainer issue??

A new kind of malfunction probably stemming from the same cause, second cartridge getting pushed out immediately after the prior and jamming the first between the back of the feed ramp and the underside of the bolt

Auto's can do this if its not in the shoulder and the recoil is't enough to do the full cycle how is the O'ring and have you cleaned out the gas ports in the barrel also the hold open spring if worn can slow the feed down without having it in front as it were its hard to solve it .also use a polish light spray inside the tube but polish after with a mop .

Happens when being manually cycled so the issue should lie with something mechanical rather than cycling/gas issues, o ring and gas ports all in good nick. Is the hold open spring the one that sits between the gas piston and the action? Over the magazine tube? Or is that the carrier spring/are they the same thing?

This is why I sold my Hatsan S/A to a dealer, and started using a single shot Baikal, with which I managed a higher rate of fire, as it never malfunctions.

Mine used to have a few issues with 65mm cartridges I believe. Try using longer carts and see if it still happens

These are 70mm, happens with 76mm also

This is the first malfunction I've had from it in thousands of cartridges so I don't want to complain too much

No the button on the side (action lock) also ,i never had any problems with mine but i was using it with 3" mag
is the floor plate parts both moving freely, are the plate springs all ok expect you have removed the trigger mech already so you have run over the moving parts .?

No idea then I’m afraid. Mine is the first generation of them and I have put 1000’s through it and hardly had an issue apart from the stock shaking itself loose when I was on for my best day on the pigeons

Think I found the culprit. Spring for the magazine cut off has been pulled proud and is ever-so-slightly obstructing the mag tube.

yup on the magtube block the hold open button that holds the next round in the tube while the action is open little bugger Henry crank vie E,Bros i think is your next call ,the booklet should give you the parts numbers.

What a rewarding experience! Investigative disassembly. Deduct probable location of problem, disassemble gun, remove problem, reassemble gun and HEY PRESTO!

...f*** me. There goes that then. Any more ideas?

with one cart will it load correctly

You could and your need too in any case drift out the roll pin slide down a small rod to act as a stop then cycle it with another in the tube .i'd use dummy cases lol.

Loaded straight onto the bolt it chambers it no problem, loading a single from the mag tube by manually cycling it gets caught all the same. I think that must be it Paul, with that spring being damaged, the plunger has been lost somewhere in a field during pigeon shooting and is as good as gone. I'll order those 2 parts and install them, must fix it. Aye, been very aware that this shotgun has been live while faffing about but I haven't got some snap caps for 12 gauge, add them to the order as well

1.?oz of clay and glue the crimp back cheap snap caps lol what ever feller you need to start someplace and fixing the plunger is the first step .was't there a guy scrapping for parts for a hatsan on here a while ago ???

Seems like they disassemble of their own accord.

Sold mine after about 6 months, it let me down too many times.
