Hawke Airmax....... any good?

Just had the HW100 serviced and looking to put a new scope on top for some winter night ratting duties.
Already owning a Hawke Endurance WA for rimfire duties, i know how good the glass is at the price point, and it works very well with NV add-ons as a bonus.

Does anybody have any real world experience of the Hawke Airmax compact? Good/Bad/Indifferent.
Specifically looking at the Airmax 30 SF compact 3-12x40. Don't want to go down the Sidewinder route as i want to keep this rig light and compact.

TIA, Dave

The Compact is Ideal if you are thinking of putting on something like a PARD add on. Glass is just as good as the other Hawke scopes. All in all a very good scope for night work.

Had an airmax on an air rifle for a while. It broke so I bought an Optisan which was much better (and it didn’t break lol)

I had an Airmax on my BSA ultra SE until I sold the complete kit. Worked great, grass was clear. The only issue I have with Hawke is their rets. Really nice in the day and fine if illuminated but if you don’t have illumination, I found them very hard to see at dusk and under the lamp. I used to have a Hawke panorama on my Hornet, battery ran out and I missed an easy fox under the lamp, just couldn’t see the ret properly, changed it for a Delta. Just something to bare in mind. They always look great in a well lit shop.

If you can afford to dedicate a rifle (RF or Air rifle I`m thinking) for NV use the compact/Pard 007 combo is brilliant, if not the short eye relief means you will struggle with head position when you stick the Pard on the back.

And I forgot to say that it gives you wide FOV/full screen of the Pard.
