Hello from Shetland

Hello all, A quick introduction - I've been shooting most of my life going from air pistols, rifles & 410 as a youngster then .22 rimfire, .222 rem & shotguns when i could get a FAC.

No deer up my neck of the woods but plenty of rabbits & geese, When i left school my first job was on a salmon farm where we (at that time) could shoot seals that were killing/eating the salmon.

My interest is in reloading for my Tikka M595 .222 and have bought most of the equipment but not made a round as yet, i decided to go with a cheaper Lee press but bought Redding dies and Lapua brass for quality.

I have Hornady 50g V Max and was thinking Vit 120/130/133/140 for powder.

Regards all,

ShetlandCrofter

Welcome to the site from sunny Sittingbourne in Kent. After an awful lot of testing I only use 50gr V-Max in my Sako 75 in 222. It is not fussy on powders. CFE223, XBR8208 or Superformance, or whatever I can get hold of.

Welcome ShetlandCrofter, Where roughly on the island you from, I spent a lot of time up there over the years, The last time up there we were connecting the Orkneys, Fair Isles and Shetlands with new Fibre Optic Subsea cables, Beautiful part of the world

Welcome from Weisdale.
I used to shoot a 595 in .222 N130 with 50gr Blitzking.
Whereabouts do you stay?
Hi, Near Bixter about a mile in the Tumblin Road, do you still reload? A few pointers would be much appreciated!

We used to run in and out of Scalloway on the West coast when developing Schiehallion and Foinhaven oilfields in the the 90's, We spent many a good night in the Fishermans Arms in Scalloway but I believe it closed many years ago.

Quite a few pubs have shut over the years up here, cheap booze from the supermarkets!

Welcome.
I`m currently building a new fishing boat for you boys (Antarctic II).

Welcome.
Sent you a message as I use the same rifle and use same components with n120.

Welcome to the site, best of luck with your reloading, keep us updated on what you do for a load as I to am in the same boat just starting to reload after 20 years break.
