I have been a sometime lurker around here and have decided to sign up after reading about some of the other shooting activities members get up to and especially after various internet searches about goose shooting and buying venison have led me back here.
I am a keen shotgun shooter but havent done any deer stalking for many years and then only highland reds. I am also a very keen angler especially for salmon.
I am based in the Westcountry and am undergoing a bit of a change in direction of my sporting life. Ive lost interest in shooting pheasants and partridges and much prefer less formal forays to shoot wilder quarry. At the moment this means wildfowl, waders and pigeons but eventually it might include larger game too.
At the moment I dont have the time to get too involved with deer stalking but I very much enjoy venison and I buy whole carcasses from a couple of local contacts. I would eventually like to be able to harvest occasional deer myself.
To cut a long intro short I do a lot of fishing and shooting, butchering and cooking venison and other game and would like to learn a bit more about lowland deer stalking with a view to dipping my toe in at some point.
