Harris are light if your stalking, Atlas a bit heavier better suited to target work imho. I have a large heavy Fortmeir for target work.
Thanks for the responses. @DVS1 do I need to have a picatinny put on my rifle or would it work on the sling swivel as on the site it looks like they are all QD
Think you need to look at the weights of the bipods again. Atlas are 311g Harris about 400g
A lot of bipods now days are picatinny rail attachment so a rail would be needed. There are a few methods of attaching a picatinny to the sling stud but I haven’t found one that’s really solid. So having a second hold drilled into the stock is the better option. Then use the sling stud hole for the second point of contact.
What bipod would you recommend? I’ve ended up with a stock with a rail on it.This
Fit a rail
Harris bipods (L/M/H) with picatinny adaptors are my current choice. What bipod would you recommend? I’ve ended up with a stock with a rail on it.
Thanks John - do you mean one of the adaptors that bolts to the rail and has a sling stud thing for the bipod to attach to?Harris bipods (L/M/H) with picatinny adaptors are my current choice.

I believe they're all pic rail/arca attached, whether there is an adapter for sling swivel I'm not sure. I know there is a sling swivel to pic rail adapter. I stalk as well as shoot from static positions and don't find the atlas too heavy, I have fitted a Midwest Industries QD rail attachment also so I can gain a few inches further forward mounting and the obvious QD capabilityThanks for the responses. @DVS1 do I need to have a picatinny put on my rifle or would it work on the sling swivel as on the site it looks like they are all QD
No, I've got adaptors that replace part of the bipod. Unfortunately they seem to have gone up in price. Thanks John - do you mean one of the adaptors that bolts to the rail and has a sling stud thing for the bipod to attach to?

You don't need pan. It does nothing for shooting fundamentals and recoil management.
Think again. How often do you use the bipod? Having a pica rail on the fore end is not the nicest for when you are not using it.Thanks all for the advice. I think the first thing to do is get a rail popped on as I tried a swivel adapter and it’s perfect on the CZ but it’s awful on the Tikka. I’ll have a look at my gun shop and see what they have lying around as it’s quite clear that some of these are a substantial purchase and I want to have one in hand before paying out. I agree on going longer as the shorter ones for me have never really worked out and were always sold on eBay shortly afterwards.
