Hernia on a cocker pup

Hi all,

Looking at a new pup, they are 4 weeks old, lovely litter of KC reg cocker pups and extremely good blood lines, trouble is the one I like has a small hernia.

Is this an issue?

Any advice would be good..

Cheers.

Depends on your plans for the pup, do you intend breeding from it? If yes, I would steer clear, if not and as long as the hernia was small I would t worry hugely, they can easily be remedied, some will just shrink to the point of not being noticeable, others won’t but probably won’t cause any issue, if surgery is prescribed it can normally wait u til they are being spayed/neutered.

I got a Clumber pup that had an hernia the seller had paper work from the vet stating no problem I bought the pup on the agreement that my vet would have a second opinion my vet said it should be OK so six weeks on the pups intestines had dropped through the hernia and cut the blood supply off resulting in an emergency operation the pup survived the surgery
