Hikmicro Cheetah

Has any one any experience with the Hikmicro Cheetah NV clip on, if so can I get your honest opinion, not many people seem to have given it a review as a clip on.

Not many people have reviewed it and even fewer people use it - because it's very poor
I've tested a range of different N|V and thermal add-ons over the past few years and the Cheetah front add-on was, by far, the worst
Don't waste your money
If you don't want to go the whole hog and buy a day/night scope (which is what I would strongly recommend) then, if you want night vision, a rear add-on is your best (and most economical choice)

Cheers

Hi Bruce

Thanks for the reply, I’ve got a Pard 007 as a rear add on but just don’t get on with it. As a day night scope, what would you recommend, I’ve heard good things about the Hikmicro, would be going on my 6.5x55.

OK, now we're talking :)
The best day/night scopes on the market at the moment are the HIK Alpex 4K and the DNT Zulus 520R
The HIK looks like a traditional scope (something many people find strangely important :)) and it has better low light performance than the Zulus
However, it is much heavier (about 3 times heavier than the Zulus once an IR is mounted on the Alpex 4k), it doesn't come with any IR, so if you don't already have a suitable IR, you'll need to buy one (and an adjustable mount)
It also doesn't come with rings although it is a standard 30mm tube so you may already have those
It costs £300 more than the Zulus
The Zulus is lightweight, and very compact, however it is not a tube style scope. It comes with a mount designed to fit directly onto a picatinny rail
The daylight image is every bit as good as the Alpex4k and better at higher magnifications when the Alpex becomes rather pixellated
As I said, the the Alpex 4k continues to produce a usable colour image for longer into dusk than the Zulus, but once it's fully dark there's essentially no difference in the NV image between both scopes
The Zulus has an onboard laser based IR which is extremely good
Both scopes have on board laser rangefinders and ballistic calculators
If you must have a scope that looks like a traditional scope then buy an Alpex4k, if the form factor doesn't bother you and you want to save money and lug around less weight, buy a Zulus

Cheers

Thanks Bruce

Always good to hear it from some one other than the manufacturers.
