Hikmicro Stellar SQ50 image quality

Yes the accidental changing of a reticule happened to me not long after I got mine, i now switch it on and immediately put it in standby mode when slinging rifle on my back, never had it happen again, the only downside to the thermal, as for poorer build quality than pulsar, no it’s not.

Excellent, good to know it works 👍

I agree with you about the last Firmware update and its affect on the reticles, but am only judging by the youtube footage. To me it looks like they have also made the single dot and + too big, as a result I have not done the firmware update. Alas I may sell mine as I now have a Duo XP55.
Hopefully they’ll do another firmware and improve the reticles.

Not sure if there will be any more firmware updates for the Stellar
It still uses the 35mK sensor while all the other similar HIK thermal products such as the Thunder V2.0 scope, Panther V2.0 scope, Falcon monocular and Condor monocular with rangefinder are now using the 20mK sensor and different menu styles
It can't be long before the Stellar V2.0 will appear with a 20mK sensor and a different menu style
Generally, there few, if any firmware updates to run out or discontinued products
The best thing that HIK could do is to allow earlier versions of the firmware to be re-installed

Cheers

I’m not sure how firmware woks really but is it a simple process to reverse?

Not in the case of the HIK thermals (although it supposedly can be done with PARD NV scopes)
All the HIK firmware updates I have done have involved downloading the new firmware from their website and in the download package is a pdf document explaining the changes.
There is always a statement saying that once the new firmware is installed it is not possible to revert back to older versions of the firmware

Still impressed with mine, so much so I just bought a HIK LH19 spotter to go with it.
Superb bit of kit for that money .
Same, had a lot more use since posting this and bang for buck honestly can’t fault it. The step up to this thermal from using C50 NV has been incredible. Does the LH19 have an LRF? Currently using a mk1 Pulsar Axion LRF.

I asked HikTech support about going back to previous firmware..
They said it can only be done at the service center...

A quick question, what is this scope like in daylight? I assume perhaps incorrectly image quality slightly reduced?
I realise it's a thermal, not day night or NV.

I had a chance to briefly look through one, during briliantly sunshine day. The picture was great, but despite rubber eyepiece, sunlight made almost imposible to see the screen. I set the screen brightness at maximum and still I had to cover eyepiece with my left hand.
