How do YOU tip?

I'm glad tipping is not a thing here. Certainly not I the shooting world, so it's not something I do , expect, or think about.

Quite surprised by a few of the replies here
Tipping is not compulsory but a few of you seem to take offence as if it was !

I find no issue with rewarding someone who has made my day that extra bit special

If you do , then that’s your prerogative, but I do feel a bit sorry for you.

Many mentions of how it’s expected in say the US . I worked there and trust me. They deserved it.

It appears to me, from reading your posts, that your reason for tipping has got absolutely nothing to do with being kind and generous, but is simply for the purpose of ingratiating yourself in the hope of a repeat invite. So purely selfish. Bribes for personal favours.
I'd rather get a repeat invite on the strength of being a reasonably likeable bloke, not a creep. And if the host is the kind of person who would judge someone by the size of their tip then I wouldn't be wanting a repeat invite anyway. People like that are generally not particularly nice company.

You don’t deal or have dealings with many gamekeepers, do you?
 
I find the whole thing very difficult. I don’t agree with it but am occasionally invited on shoots where a £40 tip is expected. I know the keepers on these shoots and I know that they do the keepering in return for stalking / some free shooting, so I don’t begrudge it to them.

I have struggled with some shoots where the owner expects a tip himself (he does all the work and runs a shoot on his own land) and have also seen guns ridiculed for trying to tip the owner. All a minefield.

Being honest with myself, tipping is the reason I don’t really shoot pheasants much now. I have a few friends who are kind enough to invite me but I don’t go, as I just can’t afford the expected tip and the expected meal in an expensive pub after.

It does annoy me in Africa, where you are expected to add a 15% tip. It would be a lot easier just to roll it in with the quoted price. I suppose they mainly deal with American clients though.
 
Lots of people in the service industries are part time and paid below minimum wage, they rely on tips to survive.
I’m not averse to the occasional tax free cash injection myself.
