i cut the side off one of these put it in the back of my car as a boot tidy will hold 3 deer or 100 pigeons or fifty rabbits easily bloody good idea tho thanks

i have a couple of these containers on family croft back home. Two problems - no roe on the Hebrides and a long chuffing ferry ride to recover them - Brilliant idea though!

we use these 1000ltrs IBC's at work ....they are bloody light when empty

as said before but ill repeat if it saves someone having an accident or incident ...especially where firearms involved...

if you are placing these up onto the original cages they come in to gain height......make sure the whole set up is weighted or even anchored to the deck in some method....they are light and will go in any wind if empty but wouldnt want to see someone in it and moving about and it topples with you n a gun in it

other than that brilliant post and piccies too.....pictures paints a 1000 words n all that!:thumb:

I've had a go at making a couple of these and they haven't worked at as well as the OP. my roof is very floppy so I'm going to have make a supporting frame to keep roof rigid. How did you fix your higher box to the ground? What sort of paint did you use? My container had a molasses fluid in but even after cleaning I've found them greasy for painting.

what a fantastic idea you have come up with lightweight waterproof shelter, you could always put a camo net over it to disguise it some more also use guy ropes to tie the cages to the ground or nearby trees

you can buy an etching paint called esp that will bind most paints to normally un paintable surfaces such as polypropylene

Have to say

Thats excellent. Might just have a go at that as there are IBCs at the shoot. Bit of netting might improve it slightly, but it`s a superb idea.

Could you paint it realtree !??? :stir:

Don"t forget that as they are made of the same material as car bumpers = Polypropylene you should flame the painting surface to release the esthers to get a keying surface on the plastic for the paint to adhere to otherwise the paint will just flake off from weathering effects.
I was Cayenne bumper engineer at Porsche so it is a fact.
Martin

Martin, just char the surface with a blow torch?

Guys how about a tin of that foam insulation to a add a thin coating for some insulation from the cold and sound proofing to it also stiffen it up a bit, a brilliant idea for cheap doe box though, well done.
