Howa 1500 + MDT XRS

Morning everybody.

Having searched and searched the internet (never a great idea at the best of times, too many conflicting opinions) I finally gave up and thought it best to ask the experts .

I have a Howa sa 223 in a GRS stock. It currently has the Howa internal floorplate.

I’d like to put it in an MDT XRS chassis but I’m unclear as to whether I would need to also fit new bottom metal or simply get the poly mags that MDT say works with the XRS.

The last thing I want to do is have 90% of the bits that I need as that last 10% leads to a very frustrating day

MDT customer service is very prompt and always good to go so could fire them an email. I don't have a XRS but have had a GRS and the bottom metal from the tikka fitted fine so I can only assume the bottom metal is made to fit the howa bottom metal.

The xrs is all one part so made for an aics magazine. you wouldnt need the bottom metal off your howa.

The mdt xrs chassis comes ready to accept aics magazines.
All you need to buy is any metal or poly 223 aics magazine .

You will have to use the magazines.
They will work a lot better than your floorplate
