Hunting with Hungarian Hunter

Was that another High seat trip Mark ?

Eddy,

No, it’s the same trip, and pictures I posted on the Facebook page, where you also commented about the trip being from a stand, rather than driven ‍‍♂️

Its far easier shooting from a stand, than shooting driven, but it’s something I also enjoy doing.

Just needs a little more dedication, I did four nights, out from roughly 6pm, to 8am.

I just arrived at the hotel in Serbia, where I will be attempting to have some success at driven hunting.

I’ll let you know if I hit anything

Wow, simply wow. Looks like an amazing hunt.

It was an amazing hunt. Quite different to what I'm used to, with the terrain much more open, and shooting out to circa 150m.

There were 10 hunters on the first day, taking 25 boar, of which, the 5 UK hunters took 15. The second day was much tougher, with only the 5 UK hunters hunting, and we took 4, or 5. On the 3rd day, the five of us took 14.

The hunting was hard work for everyone, in an unusually high 28c, no, or little shade. The dogs, and beaters had to work really hard to get the boar to move, and in cooler conditions, the bag would have been much higher.

I had 7 confirmed, & recovered, + one possible, for 15 shots, and others shot more. My closest shot was 30-40m, longest about 150m. I had some young boar pass my peg at 4-5m, but smaller than I wanted to shoot.

Organisation, hotel, & food all excellent, and really pleased I was one of the lucky bidders, on the discounted Nov' 17th trip, before I even knew how good the trip was going to be :thumb:

Definitely sounds like a great opportunity. What rifles were at your disposal? Were there any full bore semi auto ones? Also do you get to keep the meat and bring it back home?

Arun,

We all took our own UK legal rifles. Bolt action, and doubles. 30-06, 9.3x62's, & 9.3x74's.

I guess you could ask to keep/buy some meat, but I'm not certain how practical it would be ? I'm not certain if it was the biggest boar shot over the 3 days, but one was weighed at 197kg ! That's a lot of excess luggage

Was simply curious. 197 kg, wow thats one big boar and loads of excess luggage. Bet the poor dog on drug duty at the airport will go nuts if it got a whiff of it in the luggage :)

Nice one Mark. Looks like you've been knocking over few :thumb:. I was tempted by A1's Discounted trip but it clashes with another trip.

I must agree with Sika98K. Very bad idea to start bringing back boar meat from anywhere.

I can't disagree, they are being very careful. All boar are taken back for gralloching, nothing done in the field.

The normal price was reasonable, for the hunt, the discounted price is a bargain, same for the forest trip that's been discounted, if not a little short notice.

Very happy with my start to the season :D

Best Stand with George Hungarian hunter .
I am going on his driven trip 6,7 Dec.
