I learnt that you can hunt in the UK with a catapult/slingshot. Can you hunt with a bow and arrow then?

I saw this videos of squirrel, pheasant and hare hunting with a slingshot/catapult in the UK

I was told before that hunting with a bow/crossbow and arrow is illegal in the UK. However, I know that you can shoot arrows from a catapult, so what is the difference?
Thanks

The broadhead is what makes it illegal I believe.
.
What is considered legal quarry for a Catapult here actually? Maybe I should look into getting one thinking about it, I would assume just general vermin however that usually also includes foxes, hence my question....

The reason that we can't hunt deer with a bow is that bow hunting was omitted from the deer act by simple virtue of the fact that it had already become obsolete in the UK. Because no-one was doing it, it wasn't even considered.

Nothing to do with broad heads, it’s still illegal to hunt with a field point.

Have a read of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 as that is heat prohibits the use of bows, arrows, crossbows for shooting quarry - though not fish!
Thats because the fishery laws and bylaws cover these methods allowed for taking of fish.

Bows have advanced more in the last 50 years than most other forms of weapon.

Hunting crossbows and compound bows of suitable design, draw weight and arrow+broadhead choice are very accurate and lethal at distances of 50m and under.

Trouble is, bows require a lot of practise to shoot accurately, and the rate at which most of the UK's stalkers (if SD was a suitable metric to go by, it isn't!) practise, it would be a wound-fest.

If bowhunting became legal in the UK tomorrow, I'd quit whatever I was doing and set up as an outfitter.

I bought a crossbow rifle, actaully scared me 😂 debated getting rid of it but now Im keeping for the apocalypse along with my madmax costume - not expecting it to see much use in my life time, its all talk talk talk with world leaders these days.

I was told bows and arrows were made illegal in the uk primarily to stop plebs poaching the lords deer??
