I only work on a farm deal with traction in muck every day but what do i no.if i had someone shooting getting stuck al the time they wouldnt be there long.

All our tractors have the vario auto box . Seems fine for traction in muck .

Auto boxes in 4x4s are garbage! Anyone who thinks an auto is as good as a manual either hasn't done much off roading or doesn't have any skill. Discos and range rovers are full of computers that make up for the disadvantage.

Any 4x4 is only as good as its driver and better drivers want manual control of the wheels.

I think folk are at last beginning to grasp that pretty much any of the current crop of off road vehicles will, provided they have suitable tyes and a suitable pilot meet the demands of most. The problems come when people feel they have to defend the virtues of their own particular vehicle. I have driven 4X4's for years including Land rovers', Jeeps, Mitsibishi's, some manual some auto and have found all of them to meet my needs. Some are more comfortable than others, some are better appointed, some are more economical ALL have been stuck so which one is best? well its just like what's the best calibre for deer

Stick some chunky rubber on it and it will get you most places without a problem, very low maint, and they last forever

As camo says some good tyres and a ground anchor can come in very handy in tricky situations

I think in the long term technology has advanced some, from the free wheeling hubs, and the vast choice of rubber available

for off roader. So it's down to the individual Manual or Auto. one things for sure you'll not bump start an Auto !

If you know how to drive an auto then you still get full control of your wheels.
And i have driven both for many a year. Loved my off roading days . Might i had extrime off roading not just mud plugging.
