Most folk use the search engine embedded in the PC browser when it arrives.

As search engines have become ever more monetised, the results they serve up becomes curated - you see what they want you to see. Part of how they do that well is they track your every online click.

DuckDuckGo advertises heavily as a privacy-centric search option. But note that it relies in great part on Microsoft's Bing engine.

To truly search the net, it might be better to use an aggregator that pools results from many engines. And even within that approach, it is possible to further refine what engines/targets you leverage to achieve maximum accuracy with your search syntax:
