Hello all, I’ve been lurking for a few months and really should get around to introducing myself. I’m based in south Wiltshire and currently have my SGC with two guns on my ticket (O/U and SxS), I’ve been shooting shotguns for the past 8 years (albeit with a one year hiatus). Mainly clay shooting but now have the opportunity to do a bit of rough shooting, pigeon decoying and vermin control (corvids etc).
I’m now looking at applying for my FAC, luckily my father-in-law is a gamekeeper (50 years and counting) so has been steadily introducing me to deer stalking and vermin control with the rifle. So far my outings have resulted in a muntjac buck and two dog foxes. Subsequent trips out resulted in unsuccessful stalks on Roe deer, despite the end result I absolutely loved being out in the field and learning from a man who knows a thing or two about being out in the countryside properly. I have got myself shooting permissions on two local farms which is a brilliant start. I may look at applying to join a local shooting club also.
In terms of what I am hoping to be granted on my FAC I’ll apply for .22LR, .243 and .308. I’ll be sure to prep for the eventual interview and do all the necessary homework.
Anyway, that’s enough from me. Really like the look of the forum, plenty of good information on here.
Cheers, Griff.
