Hi,
I'm a recreational pot shooter from the glorious Weald in West Kent, first air rifle when I was about 8 I think, SGC since 15, FAC for years too, started on card targets with the air rifle, then clay pigeons with dad's 20b, the usual ladder.
I now have shot guns in all calibers .410 to 12, .22lr and .17HMR on the FAC, and still got (and love to use) 3 air rifles.
I've been a member of a local Pheasant Syndicate for 25+ years, still do the odd bit of clays, and have pest permissions on about 500 acres, where the idea is not to wipe out the local rabbit or pigeon population, but to keep an eye on things for the owners whilst putting a couple of rabbits or pigeons in the freezer. Magpies and other corvids do get a bit more attention...
As far as stalking goes, I've never tried, I obviously don't have the correct caliber on my ticket, and my permissions owners I know would not want stalking on their land. However, I think I would like to try, so does anyone have any advice? What is the best route?
I have asked a few friends that do stalk, but they are operating in a more commercial pest control manner, shooting from vehicle windows, with the carcasses being sent abroad on a regular supply run. Not really what I had in mind.
Anyway, any advice will be gratefully received.
Thanks, Oz
