I came across the site when researching stalking equipment. I have been involved in shooting one way or another for 35+ years, starting with air rifles as a boy and then getting into clays and sporting bird at school. I also shot target rifle at school and in the cadets.
I moved to London at 18 and didn't really shoot for 15 years or so and i only obtained my SGC about 15 years ago when I moved back to the countryside. I obtained my FAC 2 years ago when I started song more target and practical shooting as I live near Bisley. Around the same time I started taking an interest in stalking and have done relevant training courses.
I largely stalk deer with a 6.5cm with Zeiss optics and use a 22lr for rabbits etc, but have a variety of calibre on my ticket, including 308 and 45-70.
The site has been incredibly useful as a guide to getting started as well as research on everything from rifles to butchery to carcass extraction. There are so many helpful posts!
I look forward to being able to contribute and share my experiences as a relative novice of what has and hasntvworked for me so far, rather than just lurking and taking from the resource.
