Hi I'm joining the site because a friend recommended it. I have been deer stalking for approximately 20 years. I mainly stalk Roe and Fallow on foot near home which is in Oxfordshire and occasionally with friends in the Highlands (Red deer). My stalking ground is arable farmland and small woods and copses where I am also a member of a rough shoot. I have a .303 (Mark VII) Mauser bolt action sporting rifle with a Swarovski Z6i 2-12x50 scope and a PES-T12 Scout moderator and I am a recent convert to Vipeflex Styx. Annually I take Army and Royal Marines snipers on their first stalk on my permission, as do other local stalkers as part of an organised field training week for them. Otherwise I tend to stalk alone or occasionally with my teenage son.
