Hi All,

I am just getting into deer stalking, based in south Cumbria. I’ve joined to connect with likeminded people. I’ve just bought my first deer rifle. A Bergara B14 wilderness in 6.5 Creedmoor. I’m considering pairing it with a Zeiss V4 6-24x50 optic. I will be looking to join a stalking syndicate in Scotland once I have completed my DSC 1. What are people’s opinions on Zeiss V4 optics? Would you be considering any other optic for close to £1000 on a deer rifle? I’m interested to hear your thoughts.
Thanks,
George

Welcome from Mid Wales. My suggestion is get the best you can afford and get what suits you. I have a Swarovski 5-30 x 50 scope . It can stay on 5 most of the time but at longer ranges the extra mag makes a big difference. Well done on your fine choice of calibre though..6.5 Creed..outstanding

I just bought a v4 but went with the 3-12x44. And that’s probably even too much really but they don’t have a 2-10x.

I went with the Zeiss because it was the balance of quality glass and dependability that I wanted. I think you would have to spend a lot of money to get noticeably better. But unless you are planning on lots of long range target shooting you don’t need that much magnification or such a huge lens. If you are stalking you’ll appreciate a more compact setup and you will use the 2-6x range way more than anything else. Top end of 10 or 12 is more than sufficient. Just my thoughts.
