+1 for belt sander if you don't get the cut perfect gentle use of a belt sander with ensure it sits square on the wall.

Boil for half an hour then pressure wash, I use a small Karacher pressure washer from B&Q, works a treat takes about 5 - 10 mins. top tip wear old water proofs whilst washing the skull to save getting yourself sprayed with brains and gunk.

+1 for power washing and a scrub with hot soapy water to get the fat of. I always skin the head then cut it and put in boiler, but i have been told just to cut it then boil it does anyone else do this.

Better to skin it first, if you don't the skin shrinks when boiling and can snap the nose.

I did a thread on natural method of skull preparation - part of this was maggots, which worked very well! I was also originally worried about discolouration, but as the weeks have gone by the skull has gone a great colour (I boiled it in a peroxide solution).
