Jack Black Knives U1, Pat Mitchell Made

I suppose this is the most like for like, the U1 and one of my Secare knives, these are probably designed for similar usage and aimed at a similar clientele, I think it probably shows…

The trouble with lining up screw slots is that each screw ends up either being backed off slightly or over tightened in order to match its neighbour, with the result that the strength of the finished item is compromised.
I believe H&H use the same slight grind and smoke test as they doe for closing the breech faces etc

I have been lucky enough to be invited on workshop tours of some of our best gunmakers, including H&H, there is some impressive stuff going on, I suspect a lot of smoke and mirrors these days though as technology is so improved.

I’m no engineer, but I can’t imagine they would just slacken off the screw to make them look right.
Very interesting Knife @Stuart Mitchell although when I see a knife that size designed for field work you do have to question whether the designer has ever gralloched a deer. Looks an excellent utility design, but imagine using a lump like that inside the chest cavity of most game.

I'm fairly sure that Jack/Mark had never gralloched a deer when I know him... 😂

He was more into your camping/bushcraft/survival, one of the magazines he did a lot of work for was UK based SWAT, Survival Weaponry And Techniques.
