glad you had a good experience , my experience was the exact opposite when a new mod i brought was not welded straight - no i will not file it out with a chainsaw file as suggested and i do not need a lecture on welding since i was a coded welder !

he will never get another penny of mine , if his were the only mods available i'd shoot unmoderated or give up shooting before i gave him another penny.

I believe you send a copy of FAC showing the moderator then just send via mail.
That’s what I’ve been told.

Perhaps things have changed was some years ago sending via RFD seems the safest way.

Had a thread swap myself the other month, no fuss at all I sent them the mod they sent it back to RFD next day.

How tight are they how did you hold the mod whilst undoing the thread part this could save a lot of ball ache as a home DIY job assuming you can buy the thread required.

Some rubber strip about 8mm thick wrapped around the mod and secured in a record bench vice. I personally didn't think it was very tight. You can buy conveyor belt type rubber on ebay or get some blocks of hardwood and cut a V in each piece to grip the mod in the vice. It's literally a 2 minute job changing a thread

Another way is using a fabric oil filter strap to secure the mod

You might struggle to buy the thread insert, Jacksons probably wont sell to non-RFD’s or account holders. There is proper tooling available from them for holding the moderators

i knew myself by just looking at it that it was a simple job , but they won’t sell inserts to us pondlife.

I’ve been waiting (via an RFD) for a reply from Jackson’s for over a week. Tried calling a couple of times too. Hopefully I can get hold of them next week as I have a new rifle to play with and no SL5i to screw on the end!

This has been my experience of Jackson Rifles too. Currently waiting for an SL5i and previously had some delays and unreliable communication about a rifle stock, plus missing parts from orders. All through my local shop so I can’t give feedback on dealing directly with them.
