Just for pike anglers….

Pike are cannibalistic and the larger hens are very much predators on young jacks. Back in the day there were used successfully as dead bait by some. I am just old enough to have seen people live baiting for pike (using small bream) before it became "discouraged".

Aldford brook, back of the Duke of Westminster's on the Dee was a hotspot for me for Pike in my youth.
Pretty large specimens filling up on bleak & stickleback.

That boy does some incredible fishing some of his underwater footage is excellent.
Makes a decent video too
Yep - I was just about to say the same thing. He is a very good watch and puts a lot of thought and effort in to his fishing.

I have watched most of his videos and they really are very well done and also quite informative. It's surprising what pike will go for, especially when getting close to spawning time. The best one that I has was on a 30cm Savage Gear Real eel. The first pike I caught while lure fishing was a very small "Jack" that couldn't have weighed more than half a pound took a lure almost as big as the "Jack" was - Greedy little bu**er!

Hello, good Video, I have stopped using Treble hooks for a Single hook with the Barb squeezed down, but only using frozen Sea baits
Yep - been using barbless for many years - much easier unhooking and likely a substantial reduction in pike fatalities.
Also do not follow the old advice of “wait til the run stops before striking”, I suspect more pike die as a result of this than anything else. If you set your hooks right on the bait you will hook just as many fish by quick early strikes and few if any will die as a result….

When I used to lure fish for pike on Cheddar reservoir it was a regular occurrence to have Jack's up to several pounds shredded by big pike.
One evening I had a big pike 20 + almost on the net as it held the jack I hooked cross ways across its mouth. Let go within a foot of the net.
Also saw the biggest perch ever pick up a dead shredded small Jack that I returned to the water.

I remember Clive Loveland’s account of his 39lb pike from Knipton reservoir. He routinely targeted the large pike there using 5lb jack pike as livebaits.

How times have changed in the Angling world. As a kid , 40 years ago live bait (or dead bait).was the norm for pike fishing. And at that time it was catch and no release.

Never fished specifically for pike, but had plenty chasing other fish I was landing.

Back then I could have made more selling a pike to a local restaurant, than I got for mowing their lawns.
