Kahles service query: crosshair in ZF84 scope shakes from side to side during snap cap firing

I was using some snap caps in the T4 to improve my trigger control and I noticed that when the firing pin strikes, the crosshair in the Kahles shakes from side to side by about 1moa. I presume a loose crosshair is not good for accuracy so I most likely will have to send it to Austria for a service/crosshair replacement therefore I was wondering if anyone has had experience of having a scope serviced by Kahles?

You might want to do the same snap cap test in your rifle scope combos as the crosshair shake is not visible during actual firing as the recoil impulse takes precedence.

I would guess that the TF 84 has a wire reticle which is suspended in springs. Therefore I consider the movement it makes during dry firing as normal.

Thanks Rider, that's interesting to know - the ZF 84 does indeed have a wire reticle and it does re-centre after each shot so I suspect it is suspended on springs.

If you email kahles they are good to deal with send it to the uk importer in Devon I think and they will deal with if my cross hair was going furry looking did it all under warranty and mine is 25 years old

2/3 years ago Sent my 7x56 Kahles for a service because I could not zero it as not enough elevation they gave it a service cleaned as new, new lens cloths returned within 2 weeks saying there was nothing wrong with it, it was me! So re fitted and it worked perfect why I don’t know, but there service is as good as Swarovski, all no charge not even return postage, very pleased.
