Keeping a rifle clean while camping

Insulation tape on the muzzle. Dry patch the bore properly before you put it on, and replace it each time you fire a round.

I've run tests shooting groups with and without tape and it makes zero difference to group size or POI.
Roll a bunch around the barrel, then you have spare when you need it.

I usually cut a couple or three 50mm strips and stick them to the butt on the off side. There's also a part roll in the first aid kit I carry on me when I'm hunting. It's useful when stuff gets mucky and ordinary tape doesn't want to stick to blood etc

Patchworm • Blackwood Outdoors Patchworm

I have used these for centrefire 17 cal, 243, 6.5 and 308 as well as 12b.
Not as good as a rod but adequte and doesn't take much space.

I went with VP90 patches and Boresnake in my pack and the army surplus rod in the car in case of blockages. The rod wasn't required thankfully but I was glad of the other bits, the longest I was away from the car on foot was 7 days. The going in NZ was tough at times, ranging from humid rainforest climnbing to 1650m alpine peaks, the rifle took a couple of unintended dunkings whilst wading glacial rivers as well as innumerable knocks and bangs. Performance was unaffected and I'm now home with a few extra "character marks" on both me and the rifle/scope.
