Kennel cough what do you use ?

Dogs just gone into kennels and we at airport but informed they have outbreak of kennel cough
My pal just picked his dogs up from same kennel 2 days ago nothing said to him but his dogs hacking away

Got me thinking how do you ease dogs ?

I guess let it run its course ( how long ?)

But I hear folk say non drowsy benylin or boots equivalent

What your go to for kennel cough treatment wise ?

Fit, healthy dog? Let it run its course. A lot is viral so no treatment, the bacterial one is usually self limiting if irritating as it can go on for a couple of weeks. It’s laryngeal damage that produces the cough so any oral product will have no effect. That said in the past I advocated buttercup syrup for people who really wanted to give something

I’d an idea was as you say let it run its course but was just thinking of things to “ease” or make the dogs suffer bit less / try to make more comfortable so to speak

Don’t give the dog too much exercise for the week it’s coughing. Just rest in the garden
