Kent Range?

Shoreham was that the old army one at the top of the hill looking towards the cross
Don’t recall a cross but when moving back to shoot 500/600 yards you shot over parked cars.

It was truly a delightful range perfectly suited to taking the family and picnicking on the verdant verges or firing points at lunch time during Spring and Summer.

You can still see the range backstop from the train if heading towards Otford but you’d need to have an eye for such topography if you never had the privilege of shooting there.

Never shot there but remember coming from Eynsford station along the top road then under the railbridge and red flag on top of the hill flying on the left side of the road.
Think the range is now a nature reserve bloody waste of a good site ,

Deal is a good club stopped going there due to lock down it as a 25m indoors range.
Will have a drive down in summer months to see them again fees are very low,

For me it was a 145 mile round trip every week so found a nearer club in Sidcup area.
Sidcup is about 15 mins from me. What calibers are able to be fired there?

So where do they shoot these days given a;- the nicest range in Kent (Shoreham) closed in the 80’s and b;- Speldhurst (50M pistol and small calibre) went the same way?

I was a member of the Shoreham club in the 70s. A great club it was too. Moved from Kent 1980

I was a member of the Deal club from 1979 till moving over 2002 to Germany, I helped to rebuild the range from 25 yards to 25 metres too. A great club in those days I have heard that the old stagers are all gone now so how/what its like now can"t help.

Contact West Kent Shooting Ground - I’ve shot on their 100m range a few times. I have done this with my local club though so not sure what their policy is on hiring out to individuals.

I'm in Orpington and next to A20
A lot of old guys in every club it seems all shooting cards are on pulley system at deal
We had to walk down to the targets back when I was there. We did install a complete ventilation system in the eaves I assume it works still. We used to go to the Rose pub just around the corner after the Friday smallbore shoot then often onto members houses for coffee & chat till the small hours, oh happy days till we had to go to Canterbury in 1997 to hand in our pistols = goodbye to the UK for me.
