KLM Flights

A heads up that flights out of regional airports are now tricky with firearms - had an email from KLM yesterday about my flight in November & that they will not be taking firearms out of these airports -
*The impacted airports are George Best Belfast City Airport, Cardiff Airport, Humberside Airport, Leeds Bradford Airport, London City Airport, Teesside International Airport, Norwich Airport, Southampton Airport.

I had an E mail on Thursday saying my flight out of Humberside by KLM ,was now by Eastern Airlines a sister company, Who unfortunately do not carry firearms! They have issued me a refund though.

Here’s an opening for any of our European friends.Start a rifle hire company,Though it might only be busy for the boar season though. Its certainly getting harder if not impossible to get flights to Europe during the off peak seasons as most of the budget airlines cut back on their flights.

Did you get a refund on the extra baggage or for the whole lot? I am keeping my flight & just want the partial refund - this seems to be beyond complicated for them to work out

It would be very hard to do.
An EFP allows a hunter/gun owner to travel into other member states to hunt/target shoot.
I have never heard of a rental method being available except at designated ranges.
First off you as the hunter needs to have an invite that enables you to get a visitors Jagdschein issued by the inviting parties local authorities, let's say for now just in Germany which is BTW 1000kms top to bottom. This allows you to acquire ammo and hold a firearm, but you do not have one. So I would imagine the renter would need to be local to where you are going and as you are taking control of said firearm worst case is you lose it, it gets stolen, or you just buggered off with it. What can the renter do? = They would have to accompany you on your hunt *estate rifle similar as in sight of or in earshot* to be able to have secure control of the gun. Or you pay for two hunts and the hunter/renter brings you a decent firearm to use.

I was at my first driven hunt in Bavaria, Eschau, this winter. I always bring my own rifle being a leftie. This is where a certain PeCar used to organise boar shooting. Some of the guys opted to rent rifles from the local gun shop. Apparently this had been done for a number of years. Well let’s just say that didn’t happen and isn’t going to happen again.

Did the gun shop let you down?
I was not familiar that it was being done.
They most certainly did ! As I said I was’nt affected personally as I always use my own rifle but some guys were and pulled out prior to going. Shotguns were thought of but apparently the use of slugs is “verboten “ there.

I know that, was it not obvious from my answer?
I asked around at my jagdhorn playing group in the pub yesterday evening, the consensus seemed to be it would be legal if done with the right paperwork but finding gun owners who would be willing to let their firearms out for loan as it is stated *unentgeltliche* only is allowed (unpaid for) but paid rentals apparently are not, one of the guys is a gun dealer btw.
Point of concern to me is if the gun was dropped or otherwise damaged it could be given back without the gun owner knowing that it is fooked.
Worst case scenario of course but they do walk amongst us.
