Knife protection / blade guard suggestions

I’m now taking venison prep (not resembling ’butchery’ yet!) more seriously rather than hacking into lumps and flinging into a slow cooker, as a result Santa delivered several victorinox knives (with more to follow as the delivery elves have been rubbish).

Of course these come with a packaging cover but this won’t last long and currently they are in my draw In the garage amongst my mora clippers (in helpful sheaths) in a food grade box. This is a risk to a) edges and b) my fingers and as such I need to think about how to protect them/me.

I don’t have wall space for a magnetic strip like the kitchen and so I’m looking for advice :

i see knife blocks as unhygienic and also unstable if knocked (although happy to be corrected)

is a knife wrap or individual blade guards the best way to go?

Suggestions please.

In the larder I use a stainless knife box on the wall, like this one:

These can be taken apart and put through the dishwasher as needed.

There are some around that are a lot cheaper and look to do the same job:

Keep an eye on eBay, as used ones come up pretty frequently.

However if you don't have space for something like that to go on the wall then the plastic blade guards are also very good - I have similar to these on all my kitchen knives to protect them in the drawer:

Mag strip is best but you don't have space. Agreed on the knife blocks. I would subdivide a lidded plastic box and store them in there to protect edges. You can also remove dividers and use box to soak knives in Milton fluid to sterilise.
