Knobloch High Seat

Dickie, with a seat so narrow and with no horizontal side rest you're pretty much shooting free hand. That's far from ideal. There's no room at all for a right hander to turn to shoot left and visa versa. Sorry but you don't need to be a god of high seats to see the faults in the design. Sadly, most portable ones are pretty poor when it comes to the rifle rest which is very important if you want to shoot accurately.
They are not perfect and I think you're missing the point a bit, they are lightweight quite portable, fold down to fit an estate car so car be put in position sat in and taken down it the same visit.
If used in a woodland where shots aren't to far they are a useful tool.

The Knoblochs are very good. Very sturdy and will take 20plus years of permanently out.
Yes the rail is a little narrow so pure left and right isn’t as easy but then so are most single permanents. You can turn to shoot left or right - you end up supported but less so.
The panther has the bounciest most unsteady rail I’ve used.

I overcame that by taking my beating stick up the seat with me and using that as a supplementary rail, either straight across or at an angle.
Left sided shots were easier having something to rest your arm/elbow on… if the shot was 90degrees left or right, I’d just slide my butt off the seat and step down a rung or two to make it a supported standing shot with the stick or the backrest of the seat.

Cheers

'most single permanents'? Type 'single high seats' into Google and look at the 8 pictures. How many of them are as narrow as the one we're talking about? Not most so please don't make statements that are blatantly not true. I appreciate that making untrue statements is the fashion on here these days and a few will no doubt now get their knickers in a twist and I'm sorry about that but believe me, decent, permanent, single high-seats are not as narrow as the Knobloch portable.

The Hercules portable high seat I got mine from Uttings a few years ago.
Absolutely First class quality I think it’s seeland that makes them worth a google search.

I can speak for the longevity of the Knobloch lean to seat. Bought from Hampshire - the name of the company escapes me. They used to advertise in Stalking magazine 25 years plus in various sites. I changed all the nuts and bolts 10 years ago. If I change them again I'll use stainless nuts and bolts and leave it to a friend in my will. Chinese knock offs last as little as 3 years. Bushwear panther I relocated the seat supports to take the worst of the bounce out.
Yes the Knobloch is narrow, but more stable than most of the competition. I could do what I've done with others and bend some conduit into a curved rail and attach with u bolts and cover with pipe lagging. My experience has been that to shoot through 180 degrees approx you need a double seat to allow a right hander to shoot comfortably to the right, whereas shooting to the left is more comfortable. I've only made timber seats and I admit I make them a generous width for that reason.

Very grateful for all the replies, and the 'passion' from some.
But it seems that getting hold of knobloch seats isn't possible in the UK at present. Thanks to Bavarianbrit for the offer if routing one through him. Much appreciated and one I may consider if my search for a UK source comes a blank.
It will get used in woodland and would be almost permanently out, so longevity/quality is important. As it is for me being perched atop it.
I will contact the two companies Knobloch themselves advised to contact and let know my findings.
If only I had paid more attention in German back in the days.

I had a Bushwear Panther, plus cub for several years and it did the job for me. I also had a telescopic backpack type that rusted out in no time at all!

Just type what you want here, it work rather well.

It does. What I am needing to do is actually converse though and Google doesn't work on me.
Thank you very much for your earlier offer though
