Ladies Tall Leather Boots

Mrs .308 has joined the beating line on our shoot, she has been wearing her wellies all season but would like some smarter, but functional tall leather boots with a good grip. Something slip on like a wellington boot though, not a lace up.

Does anyone have any recommendations for something that will be up for a bit of hard work and are not just a “country fashion boot”

Thanks.

Personally I have never found wellies any good (except on pasture) for shooting or beating. And especially dire on mud or on sodden pasture churned by cows or the day after the bloomin' Quorn Hunt has been over the land. I much prefer ankle boots and for me find that Clark's goretex lined ankle boots are infallible. I have never no matter how wet the ground had wet feet. Either with ankle socks and plus fours if shooting or long trousers and modern nylon gaiters if beating. OK a bit of a late reply but I hope it helps. The particular model I have do however clog up on the soles with mud (and once clogeed up have no grip when climbing a bank) but given the state of our shoot I think so did everybody else's boot suffer.

My Mrs has been using the Hunter leather boot - ok not for the beating line, but miles and miles of woodland walking with the dog.

Probably 10 years old and still going strong.

Loves them.

My wife and youngest girl have both been wearing

Toggi canyon boots

Dubarray, but I'm not sure about proper beating. When we were allowed to course lots of the ladies wore them for walked up coursing.

I saw the thread title and came in for a look at the saucy pictures, must say I’m pretty disappointed so far 😂

Musto and Dubarry have been fine, but they're a bit sloppy round the ankle so I hate beating in them. Have never failed beating in Chameau neoprene lined as they keep my ankle supported (wore them stalking in Scotland and did better than the guys in their 4 season high top stalking boots) but hearing stories of the rubber not lasting as long with new manufacturer. Ariat do a class collection Women's Waterproof Boots & Shoes | Ariat and Brande Ecosse Buy Women's Tall Boots | Leather Country Boots | Brandecosse really nice firm too. Good luck!

The missus just uses her Le Cham wellies for beating, but usually has the kids in tow so avoids the thicker ground.

The ex, however was very keen on her Ariat version of the DuBarry's, apparently good quality for much cheaper. As chief cleaner/maintainer of footwear I concur they seemed well built for the money.

Wife loved her dubarry but since getting some neoprene le chameau vierzonord neoprene welly’s she has not looked back. The dubarry were great but a pain to keep clean/ polish and held mud on the leather. On about her 3rd year daily walking the dogs with the le chameau across muddy woods/ hills etc gets home and hoses them off and in the shed to dry. I use a pain for bearing/ rough shoot and served me well.
