Salomon boots?

Folks, has anyone got any experience or recommendations on these?

I’m looking for something for Africa, NZ summer and Munro type boot. Mid height.

I have a pair of shin high Hanwags but they’re too heavy for most routine walking.

The above boots seem to come up a lot on searches but I’ve never heard of them? I was tempted by lowa as I had a comfy old pair in the past that were hand me downs.

Any experiences would be appreciated

I've had this pair a number of years. They've been on safari a few times. No complaints with them whatsoever.

Had 3 pairs of these so far

I have a pair like the ones above and they are solidly put together and lasting well.

I have stupidly wide feet and so went into Cotswold outdoor and tried on about 8 different pairs and brands of boot, the Solomon were by far the most comfortable for me.

Definitely something to buy in a shop and not online.

I go through Salomon running shoes every few months. They fit well but just fall apart. For my trip to Africa I bought Aigle Muntagna and loved them… but the proper way is barefoot apparently 🤷‍♀️

I wear Quest 4D GTX for the winter and Speed Assault Boots for the summer. Both are the best I've owned for respective conditions.

I used to wear these for hiking. Very comfortable and supportive but I had two pairs that leaked. Cotswold refunded the second pair after sending back to Salomon.

I'm wearing Oboz now and am very pleased. Available from a few independent shops, Rohan or online.

Something like four months’ light use…. Not a great endorsement for the brand, but they fit well so I keep buying them.

Jesus Christ Wtf do you class as light use? I have a pair I wear everyday and they don’t look anywhere near as bad as that after three years.

Anyways to the OP Iv been wearing Solomon boots for years especially when I lived in the proper mountains not our hills. Very lightweight comfortable and in my experience durable.

Would definitely echo what others have said about trying them on first as I have sizes ranging from 11-9.5.

Also well worth keeping an eye out in tkmaxx as they often have them in.

I’ve had several pairs of Salomon boots over the past ten years or so. They fit me really well and that’s the biggest advantage. I’ve had winter and summer boots and all have been really well put together. The soles have eventually worn out but the uppers have stayed waterproof and intact. Depending on what boot you buy, they can also be very light whilst remaining robust.

I’ve been wearing Salomon for about the last 8 years and I usually get a couple of years from each pair. They fit well, keep their waterproofness and are so damn comfortable that I will continue to buy them over other brands.
They are definitely worth a go and that picture above isn’t light use and more than likely used and abused, not cleaned after use or dried properly.

I have the Quest 4D GTX. Super comfortable. Can't speak to the durability, only wear them hunting. I do know guys who spend a lot of time in the mountains go through them quickly.
