Sariel Hi
Got booked in for the Aptitude test Easter Sunday ! near Notts Beats hunting easter eggs ' also booked a place at Rory Majors day on 14th June , so he can TRAIN ME !!I believe Freya has all the abilities except discipline !!! Working on her water craft at the moment and STAY, she just gallops everywhere , but she is scenting allways and showing points.
Right back to training the trainer , I need to get my act together and am finding it hard to focus as I want it all , but alas to quickly So I am hoping Rory will kick my ass for all the right reasons .
Regards
Trapper

Freyas

Prior to a scenting session , or stalk she is kept keen with a treat !!

I am the bugger that needs training , so have booked a day with RORY MAJORS hpr trainer , and I hope he is a kick in the arse (owner trainer) , she has all the natural abilities , but I am struggling with my regime!.
She has found all manner of stuff , and whether it be fur or fowl she is well up for it . She is vocal which is a problem at 0500 hrs after a Buck , but her nose is sublime, and normally I can curtail her enthusiasm with a hiss .My constant companion, I really look forward her progress .

I was down at Rory's with my two monsters, sorry munsters last week Roy

worry not, Rory is kick ass if need be lol

Started off doing some basic heel work on lead, then some sit stays and a few dummy retrieves. all done in the paddock at the side of the house

Then into the bird enclosure where he has semi-tame pigeons that fly past very close to the dogs. dogs have to sit and not move

Next was into the rabbit pen. everyone walks in a line and Rory walks in front bolting rabbits from their cover. everytime a rabbit appears, the dogs must sit.

in to the cars and off to a big field where each dog is taken out and hunts the ground one at a time.

lunch is taken in the car (packed lunch required)

on the way to a pond memory retrieves are done with each dog, at the pond simple water retrieves are done and then crossing water to retrieve

both my dogs failed miserably and both for different reasons. one is trained good, but hates water. other one aint trained good and is addicted to water!

I am on the same training day as you in June and am taking the hooligan so you will have plenty to laugh at!

Russ
thanks for the info . Got me a playful biatch!! the moment , everything is a game , DISCIPLINE IS sxxxxxt . So I won't be embaressed then.
regards Trapper

Well its done and dusted .
The trainer is partly trained , the dog is as natural as can be. As suspected, I needed the training , within minutes Rory had my dog to heel , and not strangling herself, and me eating humble pie. What I thought was discipline , was gruffness on my part , expecting to much to soon , lack of praise for my dog ,which cut deep !! I am as sloppy as can be !!! ., but in the wrong way . I met MANC MUNSTERS , Russ ,and Zak a fine , big dog ,and we where both in the same boat . There to learn!! I brought home a very knackered FREYA the next day , as we had an outing on the nite. Russ it was nice meeting a fellow owner of this breed, and thanks for the reloading tips. I look forward to my continued training !!!. Anyone out there with Dog training problems consider an hour with a proffessional trainer , or your breed club , I paid £ 35.00 for 8 hours packed training through my owners club.
A top day which gave me the foundations to have a dog like (MAX ) Waynes dog . Russ I also had something for the chiller!.(had a bottle of Chianti and some faver beans with it tonite)
Regards Trapper

Hi Trapper,
Delighted for you, she is gorgeous. Is she from the same kennel?
Aslo what made your decision to get another?
Best regards.

We lost both our other companion dogs this year.
I was hankering after another munster, opportunity was right , Willow has settled in well and its all play at the moment , got her from the same breeder , so they are half sisters ICHBIN. I am not holding back on the discipline training, She can't go out for a few weeks so have started lead training at home, she should have some manners when I do get her out !!
regards Trapper

Brilliant. I did tell you they were addictive Trapper! One is NEVER enough!

Willow looks a cracking little lass and Freya seems to have taken to her easily enough.

You, like me, have learned the golden rule of Munsterlanders. Discipline and training have to start at day one. There are no shortcuts. Its in at the deep end at 8 weeks old.

A tip I got from Lynn is to blow your recall whistle before each feed. Its a very easy way to program the recall into a puppy (the most important lesson for a Munster)

Good luck with the pup and you know where I am if you need anything matey

Hope to see you and the two princesses soon

Russ

(wetting himself!)

Roy
